چکیده

In this paper, we briefly reviewed the development of cranial windows and their functions in brain sciences. We demonstrated that a 3D-printed titanium frame coated with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) film could serve as an excellent transparent window for long-period, vivo optical experiments mice rats, devices also allowed multiple injections through elastic PDMS window, without leaking. Our large-area honeycomb structured Ti-PDMS samples had relative area ratio over 90% but mechanical strength close to human skull, showing promising potential applications large animals multifunctional windows. suggested more functional modules be integrated device, thus turning it into novel wearable smart platform wireless data communication, electro-probing stimulation, imaging, transcranial injection, so on, both fundamental research on neuroscience clinical practices dealing damage disease.

Cranial percussion.

Percussion of the skull dates from a time when there were virtually no radiological methods for examining the skull and brain. Three apparently independent contributions appeared within the years 1893-1895. The sound elicited, tenderness, and auscultatory percussion have each been employed for diagnostic purposes, but have long been superseded.
